Job Description: 

The PowerBI Developer applies specialized knowledge to conceptualize, design, develop, unit-test, configure, and implement portions of new or enhanced (upgrades or conversions) business and technical solutions through application of appropriate standard software (e.g. PowerBI) development life cycle methodologies and processes. Interacts with the Client and project roles (e.g., Project Manager, Business Analyst, Data Engineer) as required, to gain an understanding of the business environment, technical context, and organizational strategic direction. Defines scope, plans, and deliverables for assigned projects. Understands and uses appropriate tools to analyze, identify, and resolve business and or technical problems. Applies metrics to monitor performance and measure key project parameters. Prepares technical documentation. Conforms to security and quality standards. Stays current on emerging tools, techniques, and technologies.

Management Level Definition:

Contributions include applying developed subject matter expertise to solve common and complex technical problems and recommending alternatives where necessary. Might act as project lead and provide assistance to lower level professionals. Exercises independent judgment and consults with others to determine best method for accomplishing work and achieving objectives.

Responsibilities: 

• Develops and improves analytical PowerBI tools – data modeling, code development, (DAX, M) scripts, front/back end development, etc.
• Implements changes, owns communication, improvement and support to users for business intelligence tools and dashboards assigned (based on team internal deliverables tracker).
• Validates data loads accuracy and overall data quality
• Participates as a member of development team(s) and may lead a end-to-end new development project.
• Develops independently, participates in code/scripts reviews and may lead code enhancements and optimizations. May lead and provide mentoring and guidance to other developers.
• Designs, prepares, and executes tests (e.g., user stories, etc.).
• Applies in-depth or broad technical knowledge to maintain one or more technology areas (e.g., BI dashboards, reporting infrastructure, database, etc.).
• Extracts raw data from various back-end database sources
• When/If needed ad-hoc – generates and maintains reports, scorecards, etc. in different formats e. g. MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.).
• Provides analysis of trends of operational excellence KPIs by generating in-depth root cause analysis (e.g., when performance not meeting the targets).
• May lead trainings for colleagues or internal customers.                                                                                    
• Builds deep technical knowledge in database design to optimize reporting and analysis.
• Provides advanced data quality control (data accuracy checks).

Education and Experience Required: 

• Typically a technical Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 5 years related experience or a Master's degree and a minimum of 4 years of experience.

Knowledge and Skills: 

• Experience in writing code and developing Business Intelligence tools – PowerBI and other data visualization tools
• Basic Understanding of RDBMS databases such SQL Server and Oracle. Basic understanding of modern software design and development methodologies.
• Experience on one or more full release project life cycles is an advantage
• Basic understanding of testing tools and unit and integration test scripting and testing methodologies.
• Experience using an Integrated Development Environment (e.g., MS Visual Studio, etc.).
• Strong understanding of basic Database Administration. Able to apply consistently quality and security standards.
• Experience in Project Management (project team member, participation in improvement projects or leading optimizations initiatives is an advantage)
• Experience to work with tight deadlines and focus on accuracy and
• Understanding of Integrated Development Environment (e.g., Eclipse, Visual Studio).
